Spain are through to the semi-final stage of the competition, a 1-1 draw against Holland giving them second spot behind Russia in a four-way tie on points. For the third game in a row Luis De la Fuente’s side scored early on, Mirani getting ahead of Mayoral to an Asensio cross but only succeeding in turning the ball into the roof of his own net. Alfonso and Rodri brought saves out of Drommel, and Asensio and Ceballos went close, but just nine minutes into the second half Van Amersfoort equalized from the penalty spot after Meré brought him down in the area. Germany and Russia also drew in the other group game to leave Spain and Russia level at the top of the table with an identical number of goals for and against, but as Russia won the head-to-head tie they finish top, leaving Spain with a tricky semi-final against group A winners France.
