Spain’s under 19 side got off to the best possible start in the European finals, a 3-0 victory over defending champions Germany in the opening day giving them top spot in their group. Osasuna’s Mikel Marino gave the youngsters an early lead after Asensio and Alfonso combined to set him up in the eighth minute. Asensio and Alfonso went close either side of half time, and although keeper Sivera was called upon to make saves from Kehrer, Amiri and Waldshmidt after the break, Mayoral made it two from the penalty spot after the Real Madrid striker was brought down by Funk in the area. With a couple of minutes to go Alfonso was sent off for a lunging tackle on Föhrenbach, but with the game in injury time substitute Nahuel ran on to a long clearance to round the keeper and wrap things up.
