Real Madrid are the first Spanish side through to the quarter finals after they beat Roma 2-0 on the night, and 4-0 on aggregate. The Italian team had several opportunities to peg back the two goal deficit from the first leg though, Dezeko and Salah shooting wide when free on goal early on, and El Shaarawy heading over the bar. Sczesny had to be on his toes to keep out Modric and Ronaldo before the break and James just after, but Salah missed another good chance, and Keylor Navas had to stop efforts from Salah himself and Fiorenzi. However the introduction of Lucas Vázquez swung things in favour of Madrid, and within three minutes of coming on he set up Ronaldo for the opener. Four minutes after that James made it two after Ronaldo set him up, and Navas saved again from Perotti in the dying minutes to ensure a record sixth consecutive clean sheet in the competition this season.
