Spain moved a step closer to a place in this summer’s European finals with a 5-0 victory over Turkey in their second group game. Villarreal’s Alfonso latched on to an assist from Mallorca’s Marco Asensio to fire a shot past the keeper with only eight minutes gone, and Zarogoza’s Vallejo added a second before the break. And after the restart Borja Mayoral netted two more with help from Asensio and Concha, and the Real Madrid striker set up Asensio for another in-between. That gave Luis de la Fuente’s side the advantage over Portugal, 3-2 victors over Georgia in the other group game, and they meet their regional rivals in the last match on Wednesday needing at least a draw to qualify for the finals, which take place in Greece in July.
