Match round-up - Second Division B - play-offs, day 3

Nástic and Oviedo won promotion last weekend, but they still have to play off between themselves to decide who will be the second division B champions. The first leg took place in Tarragona on Sunday lunchtime, Nàstic running out 2-1 winners to give them a marginal advantage going into next Wednesday’s return match. Both coaches used the occasion to give a run out to lesser used players, and there was a festive atmosphere amongst the few fans who turned up to watch. Lago Junior opened the scoring for the Catalans early on with a looping header over Magunazelaia from a Marc Martínez centre, but Sergio García equalized with an impressive shot from outside of the area a few minutes later, and Dioni hit the post for the visitors soon after the restart. However some twenty minutes in to the second half Marcos converted a hotly disputed penalty after Lago Junior was brought down on the edge of the area, and that was how it stayed.

A thrilling tie on Sunday between Hércules and Cádiz, the Andalusians losing 2-1 in Alicante, but keeping alive their hopes of promotion after scoring a late away goal. Claudio Barragán’s side were still reeling after they lost their group champions play-off to Oviedo last weekend, and they were lucky not to go behind when Portillo had a goal ruled out for offside before the break. However Chechu (playing with a broken toe) scored twice in a minute at the start of the second half, the first following a short free kick, and the second after a quick counter-attack. Airam turned in a Kike Márquez corner though to reduce the gap, and Navarrete and Márquez came close to saving a draw near the end. (07.06.15)

Huesca bounced back from their defeat in the group champions play-off, a 0-4 victory at Racing Ferrol on Saturday evening virtually ensuring them a place in one of the regular play-off finals. Josan opened the scoring for the visitors after Mackay blocked a shot from Camacho, and Mainz fired home a second shortly before the break. Mackay saved a Camacho penalty on the stroke of half time, but Scardina headed a third from Mérida’s cross, and just ten minutes into the second half Tyronne made it four after Mackay gifted the ball to Camacho.

Bilbao Athletic have the edge over UCAM Murcia after a 1-0 victory in the San Mamés stadium. Local keeper Remiro had to make saves from Góngora, Hugo Díaz and Checa before the break, but soon after the restart Sabin combined with Yeray to score what was to prove the only goal of the match. Meanwhile the tie between Guadalajara and Huracán Valencia is in the balance after the first leg ended without goals. Neither keeper was particularly troubled, the best effort a shot just over the bar from visiting forward Javi Navarro shortly before the interval. (06.06.15)
