A comfortable win for Spain against Luxembourg in their second match this week, although victories for Slovakia and Ukraine elsewhere leaves them with a lot to do still to be sure of qualifying. Del Bosque made four changes to his line-up, with De Gea taking over from Casillas in goal and Alcácer joining Diego Costa up front. Costa was still looking for his first goal for Spain, and he went close a couple of times in the early minutes. However it was not until later on in the first half that David Silva opened the scoring, latching on to a loose ball to fire a fierce shot in to the far top corner of the net. Costa missed the easiest of chances after that, but with half time approaching Alcácer connected with Silva’s cross to turn a shot past Joubert. Costa did finally get his goal though, beating Joubert with twenty minutes to go after a couple of previous shots were blocked following a Koke free kick. De Gea had to make a save from Bensi after that, and Gerson headed the resulting corner over, but with two minutes to go debutant substitutes Rodrigo and Bernat combined for the Bayern Munich left back to wrap things up.
