Valencia made sure of their place in tomorrow’s quarter final draw after they beat Ludogorets 1-0 in their second leg tie. The Ches were already three up from the first leg, and although the Bulgarian side went close a couple of times early on, there was never any real chance of them turning the scoreline around. Pizzi’s team were in control for much of the time, visiting keeper Stoyanov having to save from a couple of first half headers by Javi Fuego, and Dani Parejo firing a free kick against the crossbar on the stroke of half time. Zlatinski, Misidjan and Dyakov did test Diego Alves either side of the break, but with an hour on the clock Paco Alcácer got on the end of Fede’s cross to head home what was to prove the only goal of the evening. Alves did well to keep out an effort from Bezjak and Hernández headed wide as the visitors looked to at least get on the scorecard, although Stoyanov had to be on his toes to prevent Vargas and Fuego from adding to the lead near the end.
