Spain began the latest edition of the European championship with a 3-1 victory over Denmark, a result which takes them joint top of the table with Germany, who beat Lithuania 2-0 earlier in the day. Sandro opened the scoring from the penalty spot after his Barcelona team mate Adama was brought down in the area with just over half an hour gone. Mathiasen equalized for the Scandinavians on a quick breakaway soon after the restart, but Barcelona’s Munir restored the lead following another assist by Adama, and Athletic Bilbao’s Unai López wrapped things up in injury time.
