All square in the first leg of this season's Spanish Super Cup, with new boys David Villa and Neymar scoring their first official goals for their respective clubs. Villa put the locals ahead against his old side in only the twelfth minute with a first time volley after Turan crossed in from the left wing, and for the rest of the first half Simeone's side limited their opponents to just one shot at goal. Tata Martino had to pull Messi off at half time as a precaution after he complained of a pulled muscle, but Fàbregas and then Neymar came on, and the Brazilian forward got on the end of a Dani Alves cross to head the equalizer. Either side could have scored after that, Koke going close and Villa bringing a good save out of Valdés, and Xavi firing a free kick just over before Alexis tested Courtois. Things could have been different if referee Undiano Mallenco had not let Busquets off a second yellow card later on, but in the end honours were shared, and everything will be decided in the Nou Camp next Wednesday.
