Another twist in this strange end to the season, Real Madrid virtually taking themselves out of the title race after drawing 1-1 in this rescheduled match at Valladolid. With Bale injured and Ronaldo limping off after ten minutes, Sergio Ramos took over free kick duties to maximum effect, curling a shot past Jaime with ten minutes to go to the break. The Spanish international defender headed wide soon afterwards, and Di María volleyed a shot just over the top, and Morata tested Jaime with a couple of long shots after the restart. However that was about all they could muster, and Peña and Javi Guerra both went close in the second half as the locals loked to get back in the match. Ancelotti tried to play it safe, bringing on Illarramendi and Marcelo for Isco and Benzema, but with four minutes to go substitute Osorio stooped to head a corner past Casillas, saving a vital point which takes his side out of the relegation spots. The result hands the initiative to Atlético Madrid and Barcelona, and either will take the title if they can win their final two games, the second of those being in the Nou Camp between the two rivals. Atleti have the advantage though, and draws against Málaga and Barcelona would be enough, assuming of course there are no more surprises this weekend! (07.05.14)
