A mouth-watering final between Spain’s big two is looking more likely than ever after both won their semi-final, first leg ties. Real Madrid were first up on Wednesday evening, and they beat city rivals Atlético Madrid 3-0 in a bad-tempered match at the Bernabeu stadium. Pepe opened the scoring with just over a quarter of an hour gone, his shot taking a deflection off Insúa to wrong-foot Courtois. Some twelve minutes in to the second half Jesé got the second after Di María put him through, and Di María himself made it three with another deflected shot, this time off Miranda. Later in the evening Barcelona won 2-0 against Real Sociedad, Busquets giving the Catalan side the lead on the stroke of half time following a corner, just a minute after Vela had a good penalty appeal turned down at the other end. Iñigo Martínez was sent off for protesting just before the break, and the second goal came when Elustondo tried to clear in front of goal and only succeeded in hitting his own keeper Zubikarai, the ball bouncing back in to his own net.
