Spain's three Europa League teams completed the formalities in the last round of league-stage games on Thursday evening. All were already sure of a place in the knock-out round, and the only thing at stake was whether they would finish first or second in their group. Valencia had already ensured top spot in group A though, and they played out a 1-1 draw against Kuban Krasnodar, who themselves were still in with an outside chance of qualifying for the last 32. Substitute Paco Alcácer put the Ches in front though just a minute after coming on, and Melgarejo's equalizer came too late for the Russian side. Sevilla just needed a point at Freiburg to be sure of heading up group H, and they went one better with a 0-2 victory. Iborra opened the scoring for the Andalusians after Perotti set him up shortly before half time, and Rusescu wrapped things up in injury time. Sevilla's city neighbours Betis had a more difficult job on their hands however after losing in Lyon two weeks ago, and they had to settle for second place in group I after a disappointing 0-0 draw at home to Rijeka, a reality check for new coach Juan Carlos Garrido.
