Spanish international squads

As expected, Vicente Del Bosque called up Diego Costa for the upcoming friendly games against Equatorial Guinea and South Africa. The Brazilian born striker has already played for his country of birth in a friendly, but after writing a formal letter to the Brazilian federation confirming that he would prefer to play for Spain, FIFA gave the green light for Del Bosque to go ahead. Otherwise there are recalls for Cazorla, Javi Martínez and Xabi Alonso, with Piqué, Xavi, Mario Suárez, David Silva, Isco and Michu all dropping out for various reasons. Julen Lopetegui has also named a 21 man squad for the under 21 European qualifiers against Bosnia and Albania, with Kepa, Muniesa, Darder and Jairo the new faces, and Pablo Iñiguez, Pablo Insúa, Campaña and Suso left out. PS After all the hype, Diego Costa picked up an injury at the weekend and has had to pull out. Barcelona's Fàbregas also withdrew, and Juventus striker Fernando Llorente and Barcelona's uncapped defender Marc Bartra have been called up to replace them. Jesé has also had to leave the under 21 squad, and Levante's Rubén García will be his replacement.

PPS. Rubén Pardo also has been replaced by Campaña (Crystal Palace) after he too suffered an injury.
