Deportivo and Zaragoza played out a 1-1 draw on Sunday lunchtime, a result which kept the Galicians in the play-off spots, and left their opponents still two points behind them in the table. Both are looking for an immediate return to the top flight, and honours were shared in the first half, Borja going close and Leo Franco saving an Arizmendi header for the hosts, and Barkero and Víctor Rodríguez replying with efforts just wide for the visitors. With just over ten minutes to go Víctor headed the Maños in to the lead following a corner, and a minute later Depor were left with ten men when Luisinho picked up a second booking. However with the game in injury time Culio fired a free kick against the bar, and the rebound hit Franco and fell kindly for Borja to score the equalizer.
Murcia hold on to second place though, a point above Lugo, Deportivo and Córdoba, after a brave 0-0 draw at Las Palmas later in the evening. Julio Velázquez's side were left a man short when Acciari was shown two yellow cards in a four minute period midway through the second half (Velázquez himself was also sent to the stands after the break), but they held on after that to keep up their impressive record this season. Sporting Gijón started their game at Girona a couple of hours later knowing that a win would take them above Murcia in the table, but in the end they fell to a 2-1 defeat which left them down in seventh spot. The Asturians totally dominated the first half, Fraile opening the scoring in the twelfth minute and local keeper Isaac Becerra having to make a string of saves from Scepovic (three or four times), Cases and Carmona. However with twenty minutes to go Lora was sent off for giving away a penalty on Bordas, which Felipe Sanchón converted, and six minutes later Eloi beat Cuéllar with a free kick to give the Catalans their first win in five games.
Mallorca finished the weekend just behind Sporting on goal difference after they beat bottom club Real Madrid Castilla 2-0. Nsue headed the islanders in to the lead in the fifth minute after Pacheco misread Miguel García's cross, but the visiting keeper made up for his mistake pushing Víctor's shot against the post a few minutes later. Rubén Miño made his one and only save at the other end from De Tomás with a few minutes to go to the break, but from the resulting counter-attack Ximo set up Gerard Moreno for the second. After that José Luis Oltra's side shut up shop for a fourth win in five games, their poor start to the season seemingly behind them. Mirandés are starting to falter a bit though after their good beginning, a 1-0 defeat at Eibar leaving them with only four points recently out of a possible eighteen. The Burgos regional side had the better of the first half, but some five minutes after the restart Morales and Arruabarrena combined to set up half time substitute Urko Vera for what was to prove the only goal of the game.
Numancia are now level with Mirandés after a 1-1 draw against struggling Hércules in the last game of the evening. The Alicante based side are floundering in the relegation zone after six games without a win, but they took the lead somewhat against the run of play when Ripa deflected a Ferreiro corner in to his own net under pressure from Escassi. Both teams had players sent off in the second half for second bookings, Peña for the visitors and then Del Pino for the hosts, and with the game in to injury time Juanma saved a point for the locals from a wide free kick. Alcorcón drop a point behind Numancia though after they lost 1-0 to Real Jaén. The Andalusians are gradually adapting to life in the second division after a poor start, and with an hour gone Jona picked up a Jozabed assist to score the winner. Any hope of saving a point ended when Fernando Sales was sent off with three minutes to go, and after knocking Deportivo out of the cup midweek, Manolo Herrero's side are now just a point away from safety. A run of eight wins in a row by leaders Recreativo finally came to an end after they could only draw 3-3 against Lugo on Saturday evening, although Sergi Barjián's team will be happy with a point after they came back from three goals down to draw 3-3 against Lugo. The Galicians were looking for revenge after being knocked out of the cup by their hosts just three days ago, and they took the lead in only the fourth minute when Rennella latched on to Seoane's pass to beat Cabrero. Alvaro Peña made it two with eight minute to go to the break after Pablo Sánchez set him up, and Sánchez himself made it three some five minutes later after the local keeper could only push out a shot by Rennella. However midway through the second half Cifu got one back following a corner, and ten minutes from the end Arana got his side's second after cutting in from the right wing. That set up a nail-biting finish, and with the game in the second minute of injury time Víctor Marco got himself sent off for a second bookable offence, and from the resulting free kick Alvaro Antón beat José Juan to save a point for his side.
Córdoba are back up to fourth in the table pending the rest of the weekend's games after a 1-0 victory over Sabadell in the Nuevo Arcangel stadium. The Andalusians went ahead on the quarter hour mark, Carlos Caballero converting a penalty after Pedro was fouled in the area. Tamudo headed against the bar though later in the first half, and after Pedro was sent off for a second bookable offence just before the interval, Saizar and his defence had to be at their best to prevent the Catalans from saving a point. Ponferradina drop right out of the top six though after they were beaten 0-1 by struggling Tenerife. Ayoze had a strike ruled out for a non-existent offside on the stroke of half time, but the young striker made up for it with what to proved to be the only goal of the game early in the second half, leaving behind two defenders before beating Santamaría. However despite having Samuel sent off for a second yellow card with ten minutes to go, the locals could have saved a point when Juanjo and Juande both rattled the woodwork late on.
Barcelona B are now only a point behind Ponferradina after they beat Alavés 2-3 in Vitoria. Eusebio's side had lost their last four games without scoring a single goal, and they found themselves trailing once again when Viguera lobbed Masip with just over a quarter of an hour gone. However Edu Bedía made it all square with a well struck free kick, and a few minutes before the break Sandro fired a shot past Goitia from Espinosa's cross to turn the scoreline around. Toti came close to the equalizer when he hit the bar after the restart, but with twenty minutes to go substitute Joan Ramón cut in from the wing just a minute after coming on to increase the gap to two goals. And although Viguera took advantage of some slack defending to score his second of the night with ten minutes to go, the youngsters held on for a victory which takes them a point above their hosts in the table.
