Much speculation this week as to whether Brazilian born Diego Costa would be called up to the latest Spanish squad, although in the end this was not possible for now as FIFA asked for more documentation from the Spanish Federation. Costa, who recently obtained a Spanish passport, already played a friendly for Brazil a few months ago, but until he appears for a country in an official tournament he will be allowed to change. Del Bosque did bring in one new player though to his 23 man squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Belarus and Georgia, Sevilla's Alberto Moreno being promoted from the under 21's to replace the injured Jordi Alba. Piqué, Juanfran and Mata all return, but there was no place for Tottenham's Soldado this time around. Moreno's place in the under 21 squad will be taken by Valencia's Bernat, and Crystal Palace midfielder Campaña is also included in Lopetegui's list for the European qualifiers against Bosnia and Hungary.
