A few hours before Spain's grown-ups kicked off against France, the under 17 teams from the two nations faced each other in Croatia. The game was only ever about who would finish second in the group though, as both had lost to hosts Croatia earlier on in the tournament. France went two up in the first twenty minutes, Coulibaly opening the scoring following a Cornet corner, and Cornet himself adding the second. Nuñez got one back later on in the first half, and Chirivella equalized from the penalty spot with eight minutes to go after Fulgini fouled Nuñez in the area. But with a minute to go substitute Houri scored the winner for "Les Bleus", leaving Santi Denía's side down in third place in the table.
