Spain will not be at this summer's under 17 European finals despite a 2-1 victory over Belgium in the second group game. After the opening defeat against Croatia, the only hope was that the East Europeans dropped points against France in today's other group fixture. However a 1-0 win by the tournament hosts means that they are sure of going through to the finals whatever the outcome on the last day. Manchester City's José Angel Pozo got both goals for Sant Denía's side, the first in only the third minute of the match. And although Pereira equalized from the penalty spot after Javier Jiménez fouled Caenepeel in the area, Pozo struck again late on. It was not enough though, and not only do the youngsters miss out on the finals for the third year in a row, they will also lose the possibility of qualifying for the under 17 World Cup which takes place in the United Arab Emirates towards the end of this year.
