Spain's new crop of youngsters are on track for a place in the Elite round after beating Azerbaijan 2-0 in their opening match. Barcelona's Adama set up Manchester City's Pozo to open the scoring with just over a quarter of an hour gone, and Pozo had a penalty kick saved by Gasimov a few minutes later. Soon after the restart Pozo and Adama combined to set up Villarreal's Javi García for the second, and García could have increased the lead when he hit the post late on. With Poland beating hosts Bulgaria 1-2 in the other group match, Spain start the competition at the top of the group.
