As usual there was a mad rush at the end of the winter transfer window, with over fifty players from first and second division clubs moving on the last day (follow the above link for all the details). Once again Málaga were amongst the last clubs to complete their squad, and they should now be able to bring their financial affairs up to date after selling Monreal to Arsenal and Buonanotte to Granada. The lesser known Antunes and Pedro Morales have been brought in to replace them. Granada and Zaragoza were also quite active, with the former's new coach Lucas Alcaraz being gifted Nolito and Aranda as well as Buonanotte, and the latter signing three ex Barcelona B players, as well as the delightfully named Henri Bienvenu. He will surely be made welcome! Some, such as Gago, Cuenca and Emre will be leaving us, if only for a short time, and others such as Tamudo, Xisco or Tissone will be returning. And there are several new faces as well, including Hutton, Insúa, Pabón, Beto, Acquafresca and another Kaká. Over half of the transfers were in the second division, with Hércules making seven new signings and Villarreal six, including a couple of rising stars, Javier Aquino and Jéremy Perbet. It remains to be seen however whether they will be any better than the ones they replaced. That's it though for this season, and with the usual exceptions (players on the dole, replacements for long term injuries etc.), teams will have to make do with what they've got from now on. Time to get back to playing football! (01.02.13)
