One of the worst weeks in Europe for Spanish teams this week, with Levante the only La Liga side to get anything out of Thursday's Europa League ties after holding Twente to a 0-0 draw in Holland. The result keeps them in second spot in their group, still four points ahead of Steve McClaren's team. Earlier in the evening Atlético Madrid's record run of sixteen wins in a row in Europe came to a ignominious end after they lost 2-0 to Académica Coimbra, Wilson Eduardo getting a goal in each half for the Portuguese side, the second from the penalty spot. And Athletic Bilbao were beaten 2-3 by Olympique Lyon to leave the Basque side on the verge of elimination, although a draw in the other group game keeps them in with a slim chance of making it through to the knock-out stage. Two down at half time, a strike from Ander and an Aduríz penalty made it all square, but Lacazette got the winner later on to give the French side maximum points from their first four games.
