David Villa has been recalled to the Spanish squad for the upcoming games against Saudi Arabia and Georgia. Villa is one of nine players from Barcelona, even though Puyol has been rested this time around. Del Bosque explained that he also didn't call up Javi Martínez and Llorente as they were involved in transfer deals, and Mata has been given a break as well at the request of his club following a busy summer. Monreal, Soldado and Beñat are back though after narrowly missing out on Spain's squad for the Euro 2012 finals.
Julen Lopetegui has also named his first under 21 side since being promoted to take over from Luis Milla, with another six Barcelona players, including Gerard Deulofeu, who will be making his debut at this level. There is no place though for Athletic's Muniain, who has recently returned to Bielsa's side following an injury. (31.08.12)
