Atlético Madrid came in to their second leg tie against Lazio with the work largely done after their 1-3 victory in Rome a week ago. With Barcelona visiting the Calderón stadium at the weekend, Simeone permitted himself the luxury of leaving key players on the bench. Even so though Atlético dominated the first half, Bizzarri having to save from Salvio, Koke and Adrián, and Salvio hitting the post. Two minutes in to the second half Godín got on the end of Gabi's corner to head what was to prove the only goal of the night, and Koke, Adrián and Salvio could all have added to the lead after that. Courtois was only called upon late on to save from Matuzalem and Zampa, but by then it was more than over. Atlético will now meet Turkish side Besiktas in the next round.
