Atlético Madrid are close to a place in the last sixteen after beating Lazio 1-3 in the first leg of their Europa League qualifier. The Italian side took the lead in the nineteenth minute, Klose firing a shot back past Courtois after the keeper failed to hold on to a long shot by Ledesma, the first goal he had let in since Simeone took over seven games ago. But six minutes later Falcao headed Juanfran's cross back over for Adrián to poke the equaliser past Marchetti, and eight minutes after that Falcao scored the second himself after Diego played the ball across. Candreva and Hernanes went close for the locals after the restart, but Koke had an effort cleared off the line by a defender following good work by Adrián, and a few minutes later Adrián set up Falcao for the third. A great result for Atleti, and it seems that Simeone's influence is already starting to have its effect.
