No problems for Atlético Madrid in the second leg of the play-offs, a 0-4 win at Vitoria Guimaraes taking them comfortably through to the league stage. With just over a quarter of an hour gone they were already two up, Gabi converting an early penalty after Salvio was fouled, and Adrián picking up an assist from Salvio to beat Nilson again. Already two up from the first leg that meant that the Portuguese side would have to score five times, but it was Atlético who could have scored again before the break, Gabi hitting the post and Nilson having to make saves from Salvio and Mario Suárez. After the restart Adrián got his second of the night after the keeper could only push out a Reyes header from Salvio's cross, and Salvio himself finally got in on the act with a fourth goal near the end. With Falcao recently signed, Manzano now has a difficult choice to make about which three non-EU players to keep. One out of Salvio, Elías and Miranda will have to move on. On this showing, Salvio will probably be staying.
