A full house for Spanish sides in Europe this year, with no less than five making it through to their respective semi-finals. Three of those were in the Europa League, with Athletic Bilbao finishing off the work they started last week with a 6-4 aggregate win over Schalke '04. Huntelaar and Raúl twice gave the German side the lead, but goals from Ibai Gómez and Susaeta made it 2-2 on the night, taking the Basques through to a semi-final meeting with Sporting Lisbon. Valencia overturned their first leg defeat with a convincing 4-0 win against AZ Alkmaar, just the tonic for under-pressure coach Unai Emery. Rami scored two in as many minutes early on, and Jordi Alba and Pablo Hernández added two more after the break. Valencia's opponents in the semis will be Atlético Madrid, who repeated their first leg score by beating Hannover '96 1-2. Adrián opened the scoring after the break, and although Diouf equalised, Falcao put the result beyond the German side's reach with a second goal near the end. (05.04.12)
