Real Madrid had few problems making it through to the quarter finals after they cruised to a 4-1 victory over CSKA Moscow. With the Russian side needing to score after the 1-1 draw in the first leg, Doumbia in particular caused some concern for Iker Casillas in the opening minutes. But Xabi Alonso and Kaká went close a few minutes later, and Higuaín opened the scoring after Khedira and Kaká combined to set him up midway through the first half. Casillas did well to save from Musa before the break, but Cristiano Ronaldo got the second ten minutes after the restart with a long shot which went through the hands of young keeper Chepchugov and off the post in to the net. With twenty minutes to go Benzema came on and scored less than a minute later after picking up a pass from Özil. And although Tosic fired one back from outside of the area, Ronaldo rounded things off with a fourth goal after Benzema passed across in the last minute of injury time. (14.03.12)
