Identical results for Spain's Europa League sides, all three of whom made it through to the last sixteen. Athletic Bilbao had the hardest task of the three after their defeat at Lokomotiv Moscow last week, but a 1-0 win took them through on the away goal rule. Things looked bad when Amorebieta was sent off for a second bookable offence with half an hour still to go, but Muniain scored a couple of minutes later to set up a meeting with the mighty Manchester United. Valencia were already a goal up against Stoke City, and a strike by Jonas midway through the first half was enough to see them through. And Atlético Madrid had no problems beating Lazio, Godín's header from Gabi's corner at the start of the second half giving them a 1-0 win on the night and a 4-1 aggregate score. Valencia and Atlético play PSV Endhoven and Besiktas respectively in the next round. (23.02.12)
