A comfortable win for Spain on Friday night, first half goals from Mata and Xabi Alonso giving Del Bosque's side a 0-2 victory against the Czech Republic. With six minutes gone Mata picked up Xavi's through ball to beat his Chelsea team mate Peter Cech, and midway through the first half David Silva took advantage of a hesitant defence to set up Alonso for the second. The Czechs caused a few problems for Casillas either side of half time, but with twenty minutes to go they were left with ten men when Hubschman was sent off for a heavy tackle which took Xabi Alonso out of the game. Alonso's replacement Javi Martínez came close to increasing the scoreline after that though, the Athletic midfielder coming up against Cech when free on goal, and then firing in a shot which deflected off a defender before bouncing up on to the crossbar. A seventh win out of seven for La Roja, already sure of a place in the finals since last month, and they are now looking to beat Scotland next Tuesday in Alicante to round off a perfect record.
