Friendly Fixtures

Although clubs have a busy calendar once the league and other competitions commence, there will be several friendly matches whenever time allows. We set out below details of those games which have come to our attention. Please bear in mind that all dates are provisional and are subject to change at short notice. Matches already played in red, games pending in blue, changes since our last update in bold. For last summer's pre-season games see separate section. (01.06.12)

Early Sep Lorca testimonial matches
This summer there were a couple of friendly matches organized to collect funds for the victims of the earthquake in Lorca:

End Dec Regional matches
As usual, regional matches took place this winter, with teams from the autonomous regions of Catalunya and the Basque country both playing Tunisia, who won the African Nations Championship last February.

28 Dec "Partido por la Ilusión"
The Iker Casillas foundation organised a charity match at the Palacio de los Deportes in Madrid, with many famous celebrities taking part. Tickets on sale at www.ligabbva.com.
29 Dec Champions for Africa
The fourth edition of this charity match took place in Valencia's Mestalla stadium between sides from La Liga and from Africa, promoted by UNICEF and the Kanouté Foundation. Proceeds to help children in Africa. See website www.championsforafrica.es
Early Jan 2012 XXVII Maspalomas trophy
Winter trophy, which returned to centre stage after a two year lay-off. Teams invited were Twente (Holland), Lausanne (Switzerland), Brondby (Denmark) and Aalesunds (Norway). Tournament began on 9th January in Maspalomas, Gran Canaria (Canary Islands). Lausanne beat Brondby in the final on penalties after the match ended 0-0.
