Real Madrid are virtually sure of a place in the semi-finals after a 0-3 victory against APOEL Nicosia on Tuesday evening. Mourinho's side dominated the first half, with Chiotis saving well from Özil and Cristiano Ronaldo, and Benzema putting an easy chance over the top. It was not until twenty minutes from the end though that they took the lead, Benzema lunging forward to head Kaká's cross past the keeper. A few minutes later Kaká connected with Marcelo's cross to make it two, and with the game coming to an end Benzema scored the third after Özil set him up. Next week's second leg looks like being a mere formality.
