Villarreal are out of the Champions League after losing 0-3 to Manchester City, and after four defeats they have to win their next two games to have any chance of reaching the Europa League spot. With so many players out injured, including their three first choice strikers, B team centre forward Joselu was drafted in to the starting line up. But he was not able to convert a couple of early chances, and with half an hour on the clock Silva passed across for Yaya Touré to ghost past Gonzalo and beat Diego López with an angled shot. Balotelli added a second from the penalty spot on the stroke of half time after Musacchio pushed him over in the area, and with twenty minutes to go Nasri and Balotelli combined to set up Touré Yaya for his second of the evening. The disappointed fans started to leave the stadium well before the end, and unless they can beat Bayern Munich in Germany in three weeks' time their European campaign is over for another season.
