Barcelona beat Champions League debutants Viktoria Plsen on Wednesday night, although they had more problems than expected before running out 2-0 winners. Iniesta combined in a quick passing move with Messi to score another breathtaking goal in the tenth minute. And after that it looked as if we were in for another big scoreline, with Messi in particular on dazzling form, the Argentinian forward hitting the post twice, having at least three penalty claims turned down and making several electric runs. This was not his day though, and Pedro , Villa and Iniesta all failed to covert chances as well as the Czech side started to believe that they may be able to pull off an upset. With eight minutes to go though Villa won the ball in midfield and slipped the ball through to Messi, and although the referee turned down another appeal for a penalty as he was bundled over in the area, Villa ran on to the loose ball to put the result beyond the visitors' reach. At the halfway point of the league stage, Barça and AC Milan are joint leaders with seven points each, with Plsen and Borisov both on one.
