Sevilla clocked up a second away win in a row in the competition to move up to second in their group. With the Ukrainian side having knocked Galatasaray out of the competition and also having given Borussia Dortmund a bit of a fright, Manzano took no chances and put out a solid line-up. They were soon in control, Escudé heading against the bar and Cáceres heading over from successive Guarente free kicks, and with ten minutes to go to the break Kanouté headed in what was to prove the only goal after Escudé helped on Perotti's corner. A couple of unusual mistakes by Palop almost let in Kozhanov and Kuznetsov either side of half time, but after Checher was sent off for a second bookable offence near the end the local resistance crumbled.
