Villarreal top their group at the mid-point of the league stage after beating PAOK Salonika by a single goal. The Greek side put up a solid defence, and there were no real chances until Borja Valero shot just wide on the half hour mark. Five minutes later though Rossi stepped over a Valero cross, and Marco Rubén picked up the ball on the right of the area and ran on to fire an angled shot past Kresic. Rossi, Rubén and Valero all went close after that, but there were chances as well for Fotakis and Ivic as the visitors pushed for an equaliser late on. A second home win in a row though for Juan Carlos Garrido's side.
