Getafe had more problems than expected against Apoel in Nicosia, but in the end a scrambled goal in extra time by Cata Díaz was enough to see them through. Michel's side were defending a one goal lead from the first leg, but Charalambides fired a penalty wide before Ailton Almeida levelled the tie shortly before half time. Ex Almería striker Solari missed a couple of chances later on, as did Ailton, but when Cata Díaz bundled a Dani Parejo corner past Chiotis Getafe were in to the league stage. Two years ago luck was against them when they lost to Bayern Munich in the last minute, but this time fortune was on their side. Let's hope it will last.
