Getafe's return to European football got off to a shaky start, and they still have some work to do after a narrow 1-0 victory over APOEL Nicosia. Still fresh in the minds was that epic match just over two years ago when they were knocked out of the quarter final of the competition at the last minute by Bayern Munich, but with many supporters still on holiday the ground was virtually empty. The pre-season lack of match practise also showed, and Manduca wasted two chances to put the visitors ahead early on. However it was Getafe who went in at the break with the lead after Chiotis failed to get enough on Dani Parejo's shot to prevent it from entering the net. After the restart half time substitutes Albín and Manu Del Moral both went close, but in the end they had to be at least grateful that their opponents had not scored an away goal.
