What a week for Spanish sides in Europe! Villarreal emulated Real Madrid and Barcelona by winning their Europa League tie by a four goal margin, beating Dutch league leaders Twente 5-1 to virtually ensure a place in the semi-finals. After a brief period of pressure by the visitors, Marchena headed the locals in to the lead after Musacchio headed on Valero's corner. A few minutes later Nilmar hit the post, and with the first half coming to an end Valero and Nilmar added two more. Ten minutes after the break Rossi got in on the act after Bruno set him up, and Nilmar rounded things off with ten minutes to go. The bad news for Villarreal though was a broken leg for Gonzalo following a late tackle by Janko, who was only shown a yellow card for the foul. The striker headed one back for the visitors in injury time, but that is unlikely to change the outcome when the two teams meet again in Holland in a week's time. (07.04.11)
