Spanish Super Cup - Second Leg

Barcelona 4 - Sevilla 0

A hat-trick from Leo Messi helped Barcelona to overturn a two goal first leg deficit and win the Spanish Super Cup for the ninth time. This time Guardiola put out a strong line up, with five of Spain's World Cup winning side in the team. And with just under a quarter of an hour on the clock they took the lead, Sevilla's Konko unable to do more than turn Pedro's low cross past his own keeper. By half time the locals were already ahead in the tie, Messi beating Palop twice after Xavi and then Alves put him through. And with the game coming to an end substitutes Villa and Iniesta combined down the left wing to set up Messi for his hat-trick. Barcelona had their first title in the bag, and on this form it won't be their last. (21.08.10)
