Although clubs have a busy calendar once the league and other competitions commence, there will be several friendly matches whenever time allows. We set out below details of those games which have come to our attention. Please bear in mind that all dates are provisional and are subject to change at short notice. 7 Oct | Ciudad de Zaragoza trophy
Zaragoza's 40th edition of the Carlos Lapetre memorial trophy was postponed to the second international break. This year it was in the form of a triangular tournament between Zaragoza, Huesca and regional side Teruel, with Huesca running out winners. Results were as follows: Huesca 0 - Teruel 0 (6-5 pso); Zaragoza 2 (Braulio, Boutahar) - Teruel 0; Zaragoza 0 - Huesca 1 (Luis Helguera). |

10 Nov - 1 Dec | Catalonia Cup Let's see if we've got this right! The 2009/10 edition of the competition was finally played out in a triangular format on 1st Dec between Barcelona, Espanyol and 2B side L'Hospitalet. Results were as follows: Espanyol 1 (Alonso) - L'Hospitalet 0; Espanyol 2 (Verdú 2) - Barça 1 (Bartra); Barça 2 (Dos Santos, Soriano) - L'Hospitalet 0. Winners: Espanyol. The 2010/11 event is being played in parallel, with the quarter finals played on10th November as follows: Vilanova 0 - Nàstic 3; Llagostera 1 - Girona 1. Girona won the penalty shoot out, and Nàstic and Girona will play Barcelona and Espanyol in semi-finals to be determined at a later date. |
23 Dec | Friends of Figo vs Friends of Casillas
Seven-a-side charity game played in Madrid to raise money for good causes. Figo's side won 5-4 with goals from Butragüeño, Granero (2), Futre and Figo, with Osvaldo (2) and Guti (2) replying for Iker's team. |
End Dec | Regional matches The usual round of regional matches took place this winter, with teams from the autonomous regions taking on international opposition. The shorter than usual holiday break though meant that only Catalunya and a Basque side took part. 28/12: Catalunya 4 - Honduras 0. Bojan set up goals for Espanyol's Corominas and Sergio García, and then scored two himself. 29/12: Basque Selection 3 - Venezuela 1. Vizacarronda put the visitors ahead, but goals after the break by Gurpegui, Labaka and Muniain gave the Basques victory. |
29 Dec | Champions for Africa
