Real Madrid are already close to a place in the knock-out round after beating AC Milan to make it three wins out of three. The game was won and lost in a period of just over a minute early in the first half, Cristiano Ronaldo finding a gap in Milan's defensive wall to beat Amelia, and Özil making it two seconds later with a shot which Bonera could only head up over his own keeper. Casillas did well to keep out a Pirlo free kick and Seedorf fired an easy chance over the top, but Di María went close two or three times before the break, and Higuaín could have added to the lead had he been able to convert a couple of chances after the restart. A confident performance though, and Madrid have yet to let in a goal in the competition at the midway point of the league stage.
