Spain are already through to the knock-out stage after beating Nigeria 2-0 in their second group match. The African side had beaten Spain in the under 17 final a couple of years ago, and the youngsters were looking for revenge. Arsenal's Fran Mérida was particularly motivated, and after a couple of chances went begging he opened the scoring after Marcos Gullón put him through.
Sergio Asenjo had his work cut out after the break though, and Salami hit the bar before Ander was brought down by Ibrahim in the area, and Mérida notched up his second of the night from the spot. Nigeria were left with ten men a few minutes later when Salami was sent off for a foul on substitute Kike, who almost scored a third for his side when he hit the bar in the dying minutes.
