Spain recovered from their opening day disappointment, beating hosts Turkey in the second group game to put one foot in the finals. Luis Milla included all seven of his Barcelona players in the opening line up, but it was Valladolid's Keko who opened the scoring early on after Liverpool's Dani Pacheco set him up. Uysal equalised a few minutes later, but Thiago restored the lead on the stroke of half time, heading in another cross from Pacheco. Half time substitute Demir levelled the scores once again, but for a third time Spain went in front thanks to another headed goal from Oriol.
