Leaders Cartagena lost 0-2 to Nàstic on Sunday evening, their first defeat in the league this season. Campano surprised everyone with a long free kick which bounced in to the net midway through the first half, and José Marí added the second from Walter's cross five minutes before the break. Despite the result the East coast side hold on to top spot, a point ahead of Hércules, who beat Numancia 1-0 earlier in the day. Farinós saw a first penalty saved by Eduardo after Boris fouled Delibasic shortly before half time, but he did convert a second spot kick early in the second half after Nano was sent off for handling in the area.
Córdoba are up to sixth in the table after a 2-0 victory over Salamanca, their fifth home win of the season. Arteaga opened the scoring in the twelfth minute after Biel Ribas could only push out an effort from Juanjo, and both sides hit the woodwork before Rueda wrapped things up with twenty minutes to go. Betis stay down in tenth though after they could only draw 1-1 with Celta in the last match of the weekend. The visitors took the lead midway through the first half, Trashorras converting a penalty after Arthuro was pushed inside the area. But Sergio García equalised with a header from a free kick with twelve minutes to go to leave the Galicians still down in the bottom four. (15.11.09)
Real Sociedad stay in second spot in the table after a 0-0 draw at Albacete on Saturday evening. Both sides had chances, but in the end keepers Notario and Risego came out on top. Levante move up in to the top three pending Sunday's games after a 3-2 win over Girona, the first time the Catalans have lost under new coach Narcís Julià. Kiko Ratón actually gave the visitors the lead, but goals from Xisco Nadal and Dani Tortolero midway through the first half turned the scoreline around. Rubén Suárez equalised again though a couple of minutes later, and Javi Guerra won it for the Valencia based side with a back-heel flick ten minutes in to the second half.
Rayo Vallecano moved to within a point of the promotion spots after beating struggling Murcia 2-0. The Madrid based side were on a high after knocking Athletic Bilbao out of the cup midweek, and Susaeta picked up Jofre's pass to put them in front on the quarter hour mark. And Rubén Reyes finished off an assist from Movilla with six minutes to go to give his side their first league win in four games. Recreativo also made it in to the next round of the cup after a win over Sporting, and they are just a point behind Rayo after a 2-0 victory over Huesca. Local keeper Guaita had some work to do before Barrales headed his side in to the lead from Carmona's corner shortly before the break, but Pablo sánchez wrapped things up with a second header from Peña's cross later in the second half.
Elche are level with Recre after a 0-2 victory at Castellón, both goals coming in the first half from Martí Crespo and Saúl. Oscar Rubio was sent off just a couple of minutes after the restart, but the visitors held on leave their regional neighbours firmly anchored to the bottom of the table. Real Unión are just a point above the bottom four after a 0-0 draw against Las Palmas, the Canary Islanders first point away from home in four matches. The locals had the better chances, Gorka Brit in particular failing to convert five or six opportunities before the final whistle. Villarreal B move away from the danger zone though after beating Cádiz 2-0, Cristobal opening the scoring before visiting keeper Casilla was sent off for a foul outside of the area on Hernán Pérez just before the break.
