Spain are already through to the knock-out stage after beating Nigeria 2-0 in their second group match. The African side had beaten Spain in the under 17 final a couple of years ago, and the youngsters were looking for revenge. Arsenal's Fran Mérida was particularly motivated, and he opened the scoring after Marcos Gullón put him through with just over half an hour gone. Sergio Asenjo had his work cut out after the break though before Ander was brought down by Ibrahim in the area, and Mérida notched up his second of the night from the spot. (28.09.09)
