Spain are well on the way to an automatic place in next summer's World Cup after thrashing Belgium 5-0. It took them a bit of time to get going, Gillet saving a David Villa penalty before Silva opened the scoring on the stroke of half time. But Villa and Piqué added two more within five minutes of the restart, and Silva and Villa both got their second goals of the evening later on to complete the scoreline. A win against Estonia in Mérida next Wednesday will see them all but mathematically through. (05.09.09)
