Copa del Rey

The second round of the Spanish Cup took place this week, with second division A sides entering for the first time. As in previous seasons, ties were seeded so that the lower ranked teams played each other over one leg, with the 2A clubs drawn in a separate group. Two of the second division's big favourites, Betis and Real Sociedad, were beaten at home by Córdoba and Rayo Vallecano respectively. (03.09.09)
