Atlético Madrid are through to the league stage of the competition once again after beating Panathinaikos 2-0. A goal behind from the first leg, the Greek side had to score twice to win the tie. But with only four minutes on the clock Atlético increased their lead when Vintra turned Forlán's cross past his own keeper. The locals could have scored a couple of times after that, but when Cissé was sent off for a foul on Assunçao midway through the second half it was all over. Agüero made sure though with a second goal near the end, leaving three defenders for dead before drilling a shot under Galinovic. (25.08.09)
