Spain's hopes for this year's Champions League are now exclusively on Barcelona after Sevilla were knocked out of the competition by CSKA Moscow on Tuesday night. After a 1-1 draw in the first leg the Andalusians were favourites to go through, and Luis Fabiano came close to beating Akinfeev in only the second minute. However with seven minutes to go to half time Necid picked up a pass from Honda and turned past Dragutinovic to beat Palop and open the scoring. A couple of minutes later Perotti equalised after Jesús Navas played across a long clearance from Palop, but ten minutes after the restart the Russian side restored the lead after Honda struck a long free kick which Palop inexplicably punched in to his own net. Manolo Jiménez threw on all his fire power, but the visitors held fast to produce one of the surprise results of the round.
