Sevilla got off to a good start in their return to the Champions League, beating Unirea Urziceni 2-0. Luis Fabiano went close a couple of times early on, in particular bringing a great save out of Arlauskis from a free kick. The Romanian side's only reply was a long shot from Apostol, and on the stroke of half time Luis Fabiano finally beat the keeper after connecting with a low cross from Renato.
Diego Capel shot over the top following a quick passing move soon after the restart, and Arlauskis did well to save from substitute Negredo a few minutes later. With twenty minutes to go however Luis Fabiano turned provider, heading on Perotti's corner for Renato to head the ball in to the net. Renato could have scored a third with a long shot which hit the post later on, but Sevilla had already done enough to take the three points.
