Deportivo Coruña were always going to be up against it in this return leg after a 3-0 defeat in Aalborg, but even so they didn't expect to lose 1-6 on aggregate. After a period of attacking, Sergio gave them hope with a long shot which Zaza could only push in to his own net off the post.
But the Danish side had held their own in the Champions League against sides such as Manchester United and Villarreal, and with four minutes to go on-loan Sheffield United striker Shelton equalised with a header four minutes before the break.
Worse was to come though, as Aalborg scored two more before half time, Johansson heading in following a corner and Enevoldsen turning a shot past Aranzubia after Shelton's cross was deflected. Lotina called it a day after that, giving a run out to some of his reserve players and conserving his strengths for the upcoming league games.
